Tread lightly · Stay local

Small choices, a gentler stay

Enjoy the greenery

Slow mornings in host-authorised garden areas. Leave plants, birds and wildlife undisturbed.

Support local people

Ask the host about verified food suppliers and independent guides. Agree costs and arrangements directly.

Reduce your footprint

Bring reusable bottles and bags, conserve water and electricity, and take rubbish to designated bins.

01

Enjoy the slower pace

Take time in the garden. Start your morning with tea or coffee and enjoy the greenery in the outdoor areas your host expressly authorises.

Ask your host about suitable nearby shoreline locations and reputable local guides or boat operators if you would like to explore further. Lake access, lake views and swimming are not advertised property amenities.

Ask for recommendations for locally prepared meals, fresh fish and seasonal produce. Availability and opening times may vary. Learn about local customs, seek consent before photographing people and support local businesses where possible.

02

Food and self-catering

Your bungalow has a kitchen for preparing your own meals. Before shopping, ask the host for the nearest verified grocery shops, markets and food suppliers.

For a convenient arrival, you may wish to arrange drinking water, breakfast essentials and basic groceries in advance. Confirm fish purchases, meal orders and delivery arrangements before relying on them; these are not included services.

03

Getting around

Confirm transport arrangements with the host before arrival. For a private vehicle, ask for directions, the recommended access route and authorised parking arrangements.

For taxis or local transport, request a trusted contact and agree the fare before travelling. For excursions, confirm operator credentials, costs, weather conditions and return arrangements before booking.

Mobile network coverage and travel times may vary by location and weather. Download essential directions before setting off if you expect limited connectivity. Wi-Fi at the property is planned, not currently promised.

04

Nature and responsible exploration

Carry reusable water bottles and shopping bags where practical. Take rubbish back to designated disposal points, respect private land and community spaces, and do not disturb wildlife or remove plants.

Before any independently arranged boat trip, confirm safety equipment, weather suitability and passenger arrangements with a reputable operator. Do not enter the water without qualified local confirmation that the location and conditions are suitable and safe. No swimming location is recommended by this guide.

05

Practical information before travelling

Ask your host for verified directions and a map pin, the approved host contact number, reliable groceries, the nearest suitable medical facility, trusted transport contacts, fuel stations and local emergency contacts. Save these details before arrival.

These details will be shared directly once verified; no unverified contact numbers or map pins are published here. Confirm opening hours and availability directly, as services may change.

For advance questions, email reservations@kamitolakesideretreat.com. In an emergency, use the verified local emergency contacts supplied by your host rather than email.

06

Check-out and departure

Follow your host's checkout instructions, switch off appliances and air conditioning, secure the bungalow and return keys as directed.

After your stay, an honest review and suggestions for improvement are welcome. Thank you for supporting a locally rooted, environmentally conscious hospitality experience.

Your stay, your pace. Enjoy the comfort, respect the community and make the most of the Lake Victoria region.
